These adorable little dresses are being made for the festival of Eid al-Adha. It is traditional for Muslims to wear their best clothes on the day of Eid and Rohingya little girls are just like any others in that they love to wear a pretty dress on this special day. Since they had to leave all their clothes apart from what they were wearing in Myanmar when they fled, a new dress in the refugee camps in Bangladesh is very much a luxury now. With your help we can change this!
This Eid, the tailors are competing to see who can design the best dress. Soon we will be inviting everyone to vote on their favourite designs. The winning designs will be carried forward as models for a new collection for next season. Please register to receive their newsletter to be involved with this exciting competition: testimonytailors.substack.com
Please buy your gift now to help these women survivors of genocide sell as many Eid dresses as they can. A small amount of the profit will be given to the Rohingya women’s sewing co-operative. Most of the profit will be given to the Rohingya woman who made the item, which will provide income to help them take care of their families and will help them gain some amount of control over their lives.
